In June 2016, at Trump Tower, Jared Kushner and and top Trump campaign officials meet with an army of key Russian figures, including:
- Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya.
- Russian-American lobbyist Rinat Akhmetshin.
- Russian-American businessman Ike Kaveladze.
This was the infamous meeting arranged after Donald Trump Jr. was told the Russian government wanted to pass along damaging information about Hillary Clinton as part of its pro-Trump efforts.
Veselnitskaya is connected with the Putin-appointed Russian Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika, as they’ve worked together lobbying against the Magnitsky Act (a law that sanctions Russians accused of violating human rights). Purportedly, Chaika wanted to get information about Clinton to Trump’s team. Akhmetshin was part of Russian counter-intelligence, where it is believed he worked with Putin. Kaveladze is a senior Vice President for a real estate development company run by Oligarch Arts Agalarov, who has handled Kremlin projects and served as a liaison between Putin and Trump.
